Just trying to get back to film.
Back in the ‘80s I received a Minolta X700 as a graduation gift. Spent considerable time experimenting with the Cokin line of filters and figureing out the technique for double exposures. Not to mention the thousands of vacation and family photos. Then digital came around with its simplicity and instant gradification. I played with a couple of camers that at some point turned into phones. I eventually lost my disire to be creative with photography. Well, in early 2024 I was cleaning out a closet a came across my old X700 and two Yashica 124s. My wife bought the first Yashica back when you could still buy film. We found the secound one (124 G) in a secound hand store in great shape. The first three photos below are from the 124 G. I found a place in Tampa that works with 35mm and 120mm films. Coastal Film Labs They did a creat job. I was pleasantly surprised with t results. I mean after not touching any film for 20 years and not knowng the state of the camera the photos were realy good.
So have a look, and I will form time to time post more photos. But at a cost of $10 for a roll of 120 12exp and $25 for processing I’ll be taking my time to get back into shooting more regularly.
Magnolia Flower
This is from a tree in my back yard. It was shot in mid afternoon in full sun witha red filter. I did use DxO Photolab to bring out the highlights and darken the shadows. The fower itself is just slightly out of focus but still good compistion for the subject.
Cypress Knees
This is from a small 1/2 acre pond behine a shopping center near my home. The far side of the pond has a few Cypress trees on the bank. Bit of a walk but I like the out come. This was Mid afternoon with a red filter. I did a better job of focusing and used DxO to bing up the contrast.
Wild Flower in the Back Yard
This was just off of my deck. As you look at this one you will notice three focus points. with the shallow depth of filed I’m not sure how I manage to get the two flowers and the one bur infocus.
